Dear Students and Families,

Hello, and welcome to Mt. Blue Middle School. On behalf of the MBMS staff, I would like to welcome everyone to our school community. I consider it an honor and privilege to serve the communities of RSU 9. As principal of Mt. Blue Middle School, I am committed to making a positive impact in the lives of your children. In my short time here, I have come to learn that we have great students and a professional staff who is devoted to providing a quality educational experience.

The traditional African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” could not ring more true in today’s public schools. For our students to achieve all they are capable of, we must be dedicated to their educational experience. I encourage all parents and guardians to play an active role in their child’s education. It takes only a few moments to ask your child about their day, check over their assignments, or ensure they are organized and ready for the next school day. With supportive family systems that are interested in and value their children’s education, challenging curriculum standards, high levels of student engagement, and a dedicated and motivated staff, our students can achieve great things here at MBMS.

I acknowledge that middle school can be a time of excitement and uneasiness for both students and parents alike. For students, the middle school years are filled with growth and change in all areas: socially, academically, and emotionally. To entrust your children to our care is a responsibility we take very seriously. As I begin my first year as principal of Mt. Blue Middle School, I challenge all students to live by our Cougar Code: Be Respectful-Be Responsible-Be Safe. I also request that all members of our school community treat one another with kindness and respect everyday and in every interaction.

I know the 2016-17 school year will be a great success. Please know that my door is always open to students and parents and I welcome your questions, concerns, and input at any time.

Warm regards,

Jason Bellerose
